Gin and Tonic extra refreshing in 106 degrees. Hendricks Gin, Fever Tree Tonic, key lime.

More Nova
Ate at Nova again last night – nothing like being greeted by name at the door. They were packed and haven’t even started marketing their opening yet.
I’m testing posting from my iPhone….
Nova

So many new rules to follow…. we’re limiting ourselves to one meal out a week. Which is actually working out great. Last night was our night and we went to Kelly Hightower’s new place, Nova. So nice to have a cool place in walking distance. Of course, other rules include dieting and exercising like crazy so I can be cute for upcoming trips. Sigh. Still, this salmon on a stick was delish, as well as light. Les is in the backyard working on our canopy of white lights even though it is One. Hundred. Three. Degrees. My husband, I think I’ll keep him.
Happy Bastille Day

We wandered the steamy streets of Bishop Arts with 1500 other folks last night at Bastille on Bishop. Pics here – start at the bottom. Super fun… mussel competition, french maid relay race, wine, games, crepes. Great idea.

Calatrava Bridge
After a big meaty Argentinian dinner with Howard and Lisa at La Carreta, Les and I stopped by the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. It got “capped” today. Now the workers will spend several months attaching all the suspension cables. Cool.
The finished bridge will look like this:

Clouds
Les and I ended the day on Eno’s Pizza Tavern’s second floor looking out over Bishop Arts while having pizza and champagne. Mmmm, anchovies! The clouds were rolling in, but didn’t bring much rain. Then we went home and watched the biggest piece of crap ever to grace the silver screen: Bad Lieutenant 2. OMG – Nicholas Cage, Val Kilmer and Werner Herzog conspired to create the ultimate combination of ham acting, ridiculous plot and disgusting, exploitative antics. I want the IQ points back that I lost watching this movie. This morning, I go to the hair salon to try to understand why my hairdresser gave me a mullet.
Hump Eve
Normally, we go out to celebrate hump day, but this week we couldn’t wait. We had bento boxes at Zen Sushi followed by some night caps at Tillman’s. Is it Friday yet?
Aaaaaand, They’re Off
Kicked off vacation week with snacks and a cocktail at Bolsa last night. Today, last minute prep before we fly out tomorrow. Three days with Dad in the mountains of north Georgia, followed by six days on the beach near Charleston. Happy.
