I flew in from L.A. Friday night and was pretty useless Saturday. Saturday night we went to Horne and Dekker with Howard and Lisa, and also ran into our super-cute neighbors, Val and Jenni. Horne and Dekker’s blue cheese potato chips are pictured above.

Sunday was a full-on day of cleaning and gardening, followed by champagne in the pool. Now Les is making tandoori chicken and home-made grilled naan. Three days until London!

Loving my fancy suite at the Palomar. Just had a yummy Jacuzzi bath. Almost makes up for missing Elvis Night at El Ranchito back home in Dallas.

Vegetable pasta and a cucumber cocktail at Blvd 16 in Westwood. They were so nice to me when I checked in to the Palomar that I seriously thought they had confused me with someone else! Great hotel, great weather and one week to London!

Staying at the W in San Diego. Had small plates and cocktails with Don on the beachy rooftop deck. This afternoon I head to Costa Mesa. Weather in the high 70s and low 80s.

No emergency visits this week.

Dang, Mondays can be rough! Thank heavens for half-price sushi at Zen Monday nights. Today was a hellacious day, presenting at a conference tomorrow and then off to Seattle for an emergency visit for the rest of the week.

Is it vacation yet? At least the British airport strike is off.

Can I say enough about my sweet husband? First of all, he picks me up at the airport at 9:00 Friday night and brings Izzy.

Then he arranges dinner with our friends Saturday night so I can have some fun – and even takes me for dessert after.

Then he hangs his antlers to surprise me, and moves them when I think they should be lower.

And Sunday morning he drives me to Cafe Brazil on his motorcycle for brunch. And tonight he is making veg fajitas for me.
