Of course, we weren’t in London. We were in Southwold in Suffolk, as well as Walberswick, Aldeburgh and Southend on Sea. We had a lovely 10 days with friends and some family… photo album here. Les is going to make me a nice print of the above shot for my office.
Tomorrow afternoon, Cathy the Cabdriver will whisk us away to DFW Airport for a flight to London Gatwick. We’ll arrive 8:05 Friday morning, London time, and proceed to visit the family units in Rayleigh. Once Mum is collected, it’s off to Southwold on Saturday morning for a week of rest right on the above beach. All I’m bringing is sweats and a couple of pair of jeans. I’ll be hard pressed do to anything but walk on the beach, read my books and maybe go out for the occasional dinner!
Les and I ate dinner at our favorite neighborhood restaurant, Kavala, last night. It’s so awesome to be able to walk to a great restaurant in our own neighborhood. Les had a Greek-style lasagna, and I had this yummy shrimp and anchovy pizza with a glass of Sicilian wine that I’d never heard of: a grillo from KYOS. Very crisp and light with the spicy pizza.
After much gnashing of teeth, we booked the hip and boutique-y Mosquito Beach Hotel in Playa Del Carmen for our honeymoon. We may get trendy over-load, as the rooms have black walls and square toilets. But it’s right on the beach, in the heart of the downtown area, and has a blessed lack of floral bedspreads and all you can eat buffets. I can’t wait……
Martha and Philip had a ton of food leftover from a photo shoot: crab, tenderloin, lamb chops….So we drank a lot of wine and ate all the food… Find all the yummy food photos here.
Why it’s on my hand, silly! Les came all the way out to work to bring it to me. Very exciting!!! We’re going to go out to dinner tonight to Kavala to celebrate. Hooray for us!
The view from Seacroft, Southwold, Suffolk UK. May 17th through 27th. We leave Thursday afternoon, and land in London at 8:00 am on Friday. After collecting Les’ mum, we’ll proceed to Southwold on Saturday. Dave and Liz, Sheridan and friend, and Geoff and Corinne will all be coming and going at various points. The high will be about 60 degrees…. lots of cool, wet, windy walks on the beach is my guess. More photos here.
