After a month of worrying and tests, I got the all clear today!!! Hooray! I have a serious case of Titanic Survivor Syndrome… I can’t imagine that anything could ever bother me again. Now that I know I’m healthy, I feel like I’ve got everything in the world. Above are some lovely flowers that my co-workers sent me yesterday. I really am the luckiest person.

It's my Nick in a box!

No, not my dick in a box.….It’s my little 16 year old doggie. He can’t keep up with his brother Angus and sister Finn on our nightly walks. So he gets to have a little ride in his special cart now. I feel, and look, like a soccer mom wheeling around a very hairy baby.

A Perfect Meal

for a cool autumn day. We went to The Porch with Martha and Bryan and sat outside… yes, on the porch. I had yummy Tomato Soup with a Grilled Cheese. Les didn’t like his food as usual… he and Martha had Jimmy’s Spicy Italian Sausage sandwiches which were smothered in cheese. Ick. Then we went to Costco and bought giant quantities of paper towels…. ah, the good life!

What is this, catheters at dawn?

Iconic photographs of the 20th century re-enacted by the senior citizens of Glasgow. Viewing these photos on the heels of seeing Peter O’Toole’s touching performance in Venus makes me feel very melancholy about the prospect of growing old. On the other hand, it certainly beats the alternative.

The title of the post is one of many great lines in the movie. You should catch it, Peter O’Toole is still beautiful.

White Linen Barbecue

At the request of my friend P, I thought I’d post about the lovely dinner we had last night. Unlike P, who ate Barbecue at a CHAIN restaurant in Washington DC (shudder) recently, we had some real Texas Barbecue, home-smoked with home-made BBQ sauce. Sadly, no pictures of the ribs and chicken. But we had incredible Chile Rellenos, Blue Corn Bread, Baked Beans and Cobbler with Homemade Vanilla ice cream to top it off, and you can see all of that here. Martha and Bryan are like some kind of “food-whisperers”. Everything they touch just turns out incredibly. And they have lots of nice interesting friends too.
