Our friend Amy, who is having a year-long 50th birthday celebration known as Amza, threw a 20th anniversary plus 50th birthday party for about 30 of her nearest and dearest. The caterer used to work at The Mansion and the food was OTT!

Their fabulous house is pretty OTT too. Just about every room has a fireplace and its own balcony or patio, even the kid’s rooms. The kids also share a common area where they can watch TV and play games. The house comes complete with a mini-movie theater, an arcade and wine cellar. That’s Southlake for you! I think our whole house is the size of their dining room.

I didn’t get home from California until about 10:00 Friday night, so I went straight to bed! Saturday I got a hair cut and had a long nap before going to Maximo for Lisa’s birthday celebration. I really like Maximo, especially their jalapeno-laced Margaritas, but they were totally dead, so I fear they are not long for this world.

Sunday we had breakfast at Cafe Brazil followed by a 3 mile dog walk on the Trinity River levee. I’m so excited that it’s sunny and 70. Fall has arrived! Now we’re having a little wine and salad about to watch State of Play. Ahhhhhh! Only about one month until Thanksgiving and two months until Santa Fe. This has been the fastest year ever.

I also went to Fort Lauderdale where I stayed on the beach at the lovely Marriott Hollywood Beach. Spectacular sunrise.

Spent the week touring our Southern California stores… lots of sunshine and great food. Best meal of the week: Urban Solace. Didn’t take pics, but if you’re in San Diego… it’s worth a trip.

While I was in Orange County, we went to Newport Beach to celebrate one of my directors on their 15th anniversary with the company. Happy 15th, “Coach Leary”!

Next on to Florida and then back the other way to San Francisco.
