Haley Henman

After a yummy dinner at Smoke with Chet, Patty, Geoff, Steph, Cole and Frank, we checked out the show at Haley Henman Gallery. Saw lots of people that we know from the ‘hood. The photo above is our friend Starkey and her girlfriend walking past some of my pics. Nice evening. Tomorrow… off to San Saba

Motown Night at El Ranchito

Posted on February 25th, 2010 in All This Useless Beauty,Living in Paradise by Mrs. Hall

The open mic nights at El Ranchito are the best entertainment value in Dallas. Elvis night was awesome, but Motown night was pretty great. There were some great women singers doing Aretha, Alicia, and the Supremes, some old slappers shaking their thing and some mighty good margaritas. Above is the gal who won, and her husband of twenty years. She has seven kids! And she really brought the house down. Les took some video of me lip-synching to I Will Survive.. I’m praying he doesn’t put it on the intertubes.

More Big Fun at Work

Chili Cookoff

Today was Chili Cook-off day. Each department picks a theme, does a big entrance dance or presentation, and then shares their chili, cornbread and dessert at their booth.

Glee Grand Entrance

Stores, Marketing and Creative got together and choose “Glee” as our theme. Here they are performing Single Ladies as the cast of Glee for our big entrance. The people in funny hats are some of our vendors who agreed to be judges.

The Winning Dessert - Cake Balls!

Our cake balls won Best Dessert!

Monday Night Ritual

Posted on February 23rd, 2010 in All This Useless Beauty,Living in Paradise by Mrs. Hall

Our Monday night ritual is heading out to Zen Sushi for half price rolls. It seems to ease the re-entry into the work week. Lately, Michelle, the owner, has been having Julian from Bolsa mixing cocktails and martinis. Last night, he and Juan, the bartender from Jack’s Backyard, had a martini-off. If you bought a martini made by each of them, you got to vote on who was the best mixologist. Juan’s Apple-tini was too sweet and cherry-flavored. But Julian’s green tea, orange and mint was juuuust right.

Busy week ahead… Wednesday night, it’s Motown night at La Ranchita, so we’re going with Geoff and Stephanie. Friday night is the big photo show at Haley Henman Gallery, we’re spending the weekend at Geoff and Stephanie’s house in San Saba, and Tuesday I leave for the store grand opening in Fort Lauderdale. Better have another martini….

National We Love Our Employees Day

Posted on February 15th, 2010 in All This Useless Beauty,Welcome to the Working Week by Mrs. Hall

Our rolling billboard visited our offices and all six DFW area stores today. Our employees were shuttled from their cars to the office by our President and our Chairman Emeritus. Then greeted by the VP team, (including me) and served breakfast. Then we had an afternoon celebration with cupcakes, pink punch, official We Love Our Employees T-shirts, and goody boxes for every employee. And the same celebration was had at each of our stores across the nation yesterday.

What a great place to work!

Walking the Dogs

from last weekend. Izzy in her little sweater! OMG! Squeal! The dogs love the snow. Eight inches so far and still coming down. Time for champagne in front of the fire!

mono

Can you believe that this pic was NOT taken in B&W? It’s a monochromatic world out there.
